Cat vitamins are important - and for that matter, so are kitten vitamins!
When a kitten grows into a cat, their nutritional needs change for your pet. What used to be good for kittens will make a full grown cat fat and unhealthy. The dietary and vitamin needs must be changed during the one year mark of your cat’s growth cycle.
During this time, if you haven’t been taking your cat to a vet regularly, this is a good time to start. You need to get a good idea of the current health of your cat before you decide on any vitamins and dietary supplements.
The focus of vitamins for cats at this age is to maintain their current health. Like humans, after they are done growing, they will slowly start to deteriorate with age. Vitamins will help slow certain aspects of this like arthritis and parasites. There are a lot of different vitamins on the market.
It’s good practice to get a multivitamin that has the nutritional needs your vet suggests to you. You can get these over the counter and feed them to your cat daily or find a cat food that has the prescribed nutritional needs.
Some common vitamins that your cat will need as they advance in age are calcium, potassium, magnesium and protein. General multivitamins are good for your cat, but you need to be careful and not over supplement the cat. Vitamins like calcium, in excess may cause diarrhea. Other complications my come from it as well. The best thing is to talk to your vet and follow the suggestions they may make.
We want our cats to be healthy, a typical lifespan of outdoor cats are 17 years, while indoor cats can live up to 20-35 years! We want our cats to live comfortable during their stay with us. In the end they will provide a loving friendship and a strong bond with us.
